Signs are self-illuminating, needing no external/internal

electrical power supply or secondary light source. They are

continuously illuminated even during prolonged periods of

darkness. Illumination is provided by Betalights fixed

securely within the sign. Betalights are gaseous tritium

light sources that provide absolute reliability throughout

their service life of 10, 15 or 20 years. They contain no

moving parts or consumable components and are

maintenance-free. Signs are suitable for use in hazardous

atmospheres and will continue to operate normally in

adverse environmental conditions, even when immersed in

water. Rated for operation between -60C and +80C.

 1. Can I install a Betalux™ fire safety sign by my self?

Betalux™ escape signs don't need electricity. They give light for a period of 15 years. You save on expensive cable work. Ideal for existing buildings, no holes in walls for electricity. Look for the best place to mount the sign. In general one has to be able to see the sign from every place in the room. And it has to point at the escape route. Mounting material is delivered with the sign.


2. How much energy is used by Betalux™ safety signs in one year?

Betalux™ escape lights don't consume electric energy. That's why you save a lot of money during the lifetime of the sign (15 years or 131000 hours). Because the betalights also called trigalights don't consume electricity, they are used for several years in airplanes.


3. What kind of maintenance is necessary for Betalux™ escape signs?

Betalux™ fire safety signs are free of maintenance. No change of lamps and batteries. No problems with malfunctioning electronics. No complicated self-test systems. Depending on the environment, you only have to clean them with household cleaning products. Don't use agressive solvents like thinners. After 15 years the lightoutput will be too low. Don't throw the sign away, we will take it back if you buy a new sign, free of charge.


4. Can I use Betalux™ safety signs in hazardous locations like gas stations or oil platforms and refineries?

Betalux™ escape lights are explosionproof. Because of their unique design, they don't have ignition circuits which can make sparks. Ideal for oil platforms, refineries and other hazardous environments.


5. Can I use Betalux™ signs in damp or wet locations?

Of course Betalux™ escape signs are waterproof, because they don't have electrical components. They also function under water, ideal for wet and damp conditions like swimming pool areas.


6. Is the functioning of Betalux™ signs affected by temperature?

Betalux™ escape-lights are unaffected by enormous temperature variations. They function well between temperatures of -60°C and +80°C. So very suitable for freezers and warm places like bakeries.


7. Is it allowed to use Betalux™ escape signs on ships or oil platforms?

Yes, one can use Betalux™ escape signs on ships and oil platforms. The safety signs are approved by Det Norske Veritas, United States Coast Guard, Lloyds Register of Shipping and the Canadian Coast Guard.


8. Are Betalux™ safety signs vibration proof and EMC insensitive?

Yes, because of their unique design, Betalux™ escapelights are vibration proof and EMC insensitive. They don't cause EMC interference and are not affected by outside EMC. You can use them on airplanes and on board ships.


9. Do Betalux™ signs comply with regulations?

10. What happens in case of a power failure?

A couple of years ago there was power failures of several days in the USA and Italy. Traditional safety signs with a battery function up until 3 hours. This can cause dangerous situations. Betalux™ escape signs are not dependent on a power supply, they function well for their entire lifetime of 15 years.


11. Does a betalight or a Betalux™ sign produce a health risc to the public?

The amount of radiation that a broken Betalight produces is far less than the maximum the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Dutch ministery of VROM finds acceptable to the public; there is no health risk for the public.


12. Can I have every legend I want in my Betalux™ escape sign?

We have an extensive list of legends we can deliver from stock. However, if your legend is not in our list, we will produce it especially for you, but we have to charge you for the extra costs.


13. What are the costs of a Betalux™ safety sign over 15 years(131000 hours)?
